FDA Recalls

Covidien (NYSE: COV) has initiated a voluntary recall of certain lots of its cuffed ShileyTM tracheostomy tubes and Custom/Specialty tracheostomy tubes due to the product’s cuff not holding air as a result of leaks in the pilot balloon inflation assembly. With respect to the affected units, if a cuff does not hold air, ventilation will be adversely affected since the ability to generate positive pressure in the airway could be compromised by lack of cuff seal.

Purina Mills, LLC, is voluntarily recalling two specific lots of 50-pound bags of Strategy® Professional Formula GX horse feed and one lot of Layena® SunFresh® Recipe Pellet poultry feed. The recall is being implemented due to the discovery of metal fragments in a limited number of bags from one of the Strategy® product lots.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Green Land, 212-03 48th Avenue, Oakland Garden, New York 11364, is voluntarily recalling "Nut Tree Health Mix" due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

As a precautionary measure, due to mislabeling, StarKist Co. is initiating a voluntary recall of two SeaSations® frozen white whole fish fillet products – Thai with Basil, UPC # 80000 50007 and Teriyaki Orange and Ginger, UPC # 80000 50112. All 11.4 oz packages of these two varieties have been recalled, regardless of Best By Date or Manufacturing Code.

MY-A & CO. of Cheverly, MD is recalling its 3.5oz jars of Ground Black Pepper Double Golden Fish because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Pompano Beach, FL –Atlas Operations, Inc. announced today that it is expanding its December 12, 2009 voluntary nationwide recall of the company’s dietary supplements for sexual enhancement to include Stamin It, Erectzia, and Vigor 100.

Response Products, Broken Bow, NE is voluntarily recalling Cetyl M for Dogs, lot numbers 1210903 and 0128010, due to a possible Salmonella contamination from the hydrolyzed vegetable protein component provided by Basic Foods of Las Vegas, NV. Tests conducted by Basic Foods to detect Salmonella produced negative results; however, Response Products has determined to recall the above-referenced lots.

H-E-B, committed to the safety of customers, is issuing a precautionary recall for H-E-B French Onion Dip. H-E-B is expanding the recall announced Thursday. In addition to the product with code dates of 4/15/2010 and 4/20/2010, new affected code dates are 4/23/2010 and 4/24/2010 in the 8 ounce, 16 ounce and 24 ounce sizes.

McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE:MKC) has announced a voluntary recall of McCormick Fajitas Seasoning Mix, with UPC Code 5210002121 and “BEST BY” dates of JAN 16 12 AH and JAN 16 12 CH. McCormick Fajitas Seasoning Mix packages with these date codes contain undeclared wheat and milk ingredients.

US Oftalmi, of Hallandale, Florida, announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide recall of all Over-the-Counter Eye Drops and Nasal Drops. Products are packaged in 15mL plastic bottles and were distributed nationwide to food and drug distributors for retail.

Del Bueno of Grandview, WA is recalling all size packages of Queso Fresco Fresh Cheese because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The Kroger Co. said today it is recalling Kroger California Seasoning Blend Garlic Powder and Kroger Special Seasoning Blend Lemon Pepper sold in its retail stores because the Company has been made aware by a supplier that an ingredient in the product may have been contaminated with Salmonella.

KANEC USA INC, 5061, South State Road 7. Ste 602, Davie FL 33314, announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide recall of Stud Capsule For Men Lot #060607-01/060108-01 Exp 6-2013. Kanec USA Inc, is conducting this recall after being informed by representatives of the the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that laboratory analysis of Stud Capsule Lot 060607-01/060108-01 Exp 6-2013 sample found the product to be adulterated with Sildenafil , an FDA approved drug used in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction(ED).

Whole Foods Market announced the recall of its Whole Catch Yellow fin Tuna Steaks (frozen) with a best by date of Dec 5th, 2010 because of possible elevated levels of histamine that may result in symptoms that generally appear within minutes to an hour after eating the affected fish. No other Whole Foods Market, Whole Catch, 365 or 365 Organic products are affected.

Consumers who have an allergy or sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Zatarain's has announced a voluntary recall of Zatarain's Original Dirty Rice Mix, 8 oz. package with UPC Code 7142909535 and a "BEST BY" date of JAN 19 12H. Zatarain's Original Dirty Rice Mix packages with this date code contain undeclared wheat and barley ingredients.

Watkins Inc. of Winona, MN, is recalling 306 units of its individual 4.6 ounce containers and 283 units of its 0.9 ounce packages of Crab Snack & Dip Seasoning food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
